Well I had an mx3 before this car and just picked this up from the local dealer. A left over 07.

So far so happy with the car other than no mp3 :(

WELCOME!!!

Enjoy the car! I have been enjoying mine for over a year now! Hope to see you out at some meets. Where you from?

Any thoughts on mods? Let me know if you have any questions.

A few things I want to mention just to be safe. Make sure they replaced the transmission bolt as there was a recall on it. Also there was a recall on an actuator valve spring causing CEL's make sure that was done. There was also a recent emissions ECU flash update and get that as well. I don't have the recall numbers but can get them if you need.

On another note I like to see that you have very few Km's on the car. Want to trade???

yeah I have to check the transmission bolt tomorrow i'll give them a quick call, and the ecu flashes first I heard so ill check on them as well.

I am from Nova Scotia, and yeah car has few kms for now lol.

Any suggestions on what to run for a winter setup?

Some were able to get 16 steels on but I think they have to be specfic ones not all 16 steels will fit. I am running 17 steels and Hankook W300 Ice Bears 205/55/17 they were like $160 a tire. But they are V rated tires so I can drive without watching the spedo to much. Not like I go 240 much... but just nice that if I get upto 200 I am not close to passing the speed rating.

I would go with tires best suited for your driving tendencys and driving needs. If you tend to drive through lots of heavy deep snow I would go with Blizaks and if want to have good stoping on ice. If you drive the Speed like I do you may want to get something harder then the Blizaks since I wear out tires bad.

Check out mazda3forums.com (http://mazda3forums.com) they have some good info there too. Lots of Speed 3 related.

16's will fit....certain ones as Phil mentioned. However I would recommend running 17's just in case.
You will pay a bit more for tires, but peace of mind is worth it IMO.

Even my 16's worry me in the winter. Im afraid that some rocks or ice will get stuck in there :(

not modding a speed3 is pretty hard i'd say.

If you are planning on buying parts at a dealership, we get 15% off at steele. check the sponsor page for details.

My best suggestion would be to check out places like StreetUnit (http://streetunit.com) and Protege Garage (http://mazda3online.com). Lots of part options there. I have purchased from both and I prefer Street Unit. If you are looking for a CAI I would say CP-E due to the fact they have a built in air straightener before the MAF sensor where no other CAI does (Mazdaspeed, Injen, and Fujita) HKS and BEGi also have intakes. This helps to give the MAF a more accurate reading of air flow. Also Cobb has a SRI which is also good and has as well an air straightener.

Also with an exhaust there area number of companies that make cat backs (CP-E, Borla, Vibrant, Corksport, HKS, Autoexe, 5Zigen, and Mazdaspeed) most just have the cat back but some have down pipe back or turbo back options. There is also a turbo manifold that Protege Garage is doing a group buy on now. What are you looking at for CBE or TBE?

Good advice Mazdaspeed, yeah you should probably take a look at StreetUnit`s web site, and there forum, a lot of comments and tricks on there. I`ve been doing business with ProtegeGarage and I kinda lost faith in them in my last transaction, so Streetunit would be the way to go IMO. And no it is officially proven that you can not keep a Speed 3 stock!!! Watch out its adictive. And you should also keep an eye on Cobb, they have a EMS coming sometimes next year, and from what I`ve heard, they are targeting 300whp!! Anyway keep us posted!

Love your Mazdaspeed!! I was tempted for sure!! I'm not a racer (although it would be fun to try!) so the 2.3L will do me fine. My new 3 is faster than my Protege5, but that 6th gear sure would be nice. If they come out with a moon roof version in the future I'd be tempted to trade up! Enjoy it!

Just buy one and get it over with Will. You can always lower the back seat and live/sleep back there.

Yeah this is my second winter and with lots of power on a FF car like this it is interesting getting around.

I can't wait till I get some big power mods and try and drive it in the winter with 300whp and tq.
